    Trinity Secondary Curriculum

At Trinity the aim of our curriculum is to create autonomous, independent lifelong learners with a real passion for learning and a thirst for knowledge. Through the curriculum we want pupils to acquire not just the knowledge content they will need to make outstanding progress but also the skills and attributes of great learners such as perseverance, creativity & imagination. At Trinity we pride ourselves on offering a broad and balanced curriculum which stretches all of our pupils and is designed to challenge and inspire pupils based upon our ethos of Learning, Loving, Living.

We are Lewisham’s only “grammar style” school which means that the most academically able pupils on entry to Trinity are grouped into a grammar stream in order that they are challenged academically and make rapid progress.

At Key Stage 3 pupils will follow a traditional curriculum based on English, Mathematics, Science, French, Spanish, Geography, History, RE, Computer Science, Art, Food, Performing Arts (Music and Drama) and PE.

At GCSE all pupils study GCSE English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Combined Science (Grammar stream study the Triple Award) and RE.  Most students then will choose either History or Geography (some do both); a language (either Spanish, French or Latin – again some do more than one); plus free choices of Art, Graphics, Food, Computer Science, ICT, Music, Drama, Business Studies & PE.

Students are taught in sets in Yrs 7-9 for the core subjects and in mixed ability sets for the foundation subjects. The top set in each year group is our Grammar stream. At Key Stage 4 students choose from a range of personalised learning pathways that will lead them on their journey to outstanding progress and achievement at GCSE and beyond. Pupils go on to study A-Levels, BTecs & take up Apprenticeships at a wide range of school sixth-forms, sixth form colleges, grammar schools and independent schools. We encourage and support our pupils in applying for Sixth Form Scholarship & Bursary places and currently have a number of Old Trinitarians studying at Russell Group universities.
