In the Early Years at Trinity children learn within a safe and secure learning environment that equips them for the educational journey ahead.
We ensure children are given a range of highly-engaging and enjoyable play-based learning experiences which enable them to become confident and independent learners.
The Foundation Stage Framework and Development Matters are the basis of our Reception curriculum and learning is planned through exciting topics. There are seven areas of learning in the Early Years and we have summarised these in the attached 'Early Learning Goals' document.
We have also developed our own assessment frameworks for Writing and Maths which breaks these early learning goals down into achievable steps.
In Reception we record the children's learning in two ways:
2Simple Observation Tool
Each child has a secure online profile that is updated regularly by staff. Over the week the staff will observe the children whilst they are playing and record the learning that is taking place in all areas, including mathematics.
A copy of these profiles are shared with parents and carers at parents' evenings throughout the year and the final profile is sent home in the summer term.
Throughout the week the children will carry out two writing focuses. One will be phonics based and will recap the sounds taught that week. The other will be topic based and allow the children time to write creatively.
